Dream Theater at 713 Music Hall

Dream Theater is currently in the thick of its 40th Anniversary tour, covering the North American leg. What makes this show extra special? Well, co-founding drummer, Mike Portnoy, will be joining the band as they trek through the US and Canada.

“This tour is going to be incredibly special for all of us!" the band commented in a joint statement. "Each show will surely be filled with anticipation and a variety of emotions. We can’t wait to step onstage together once again and begin this historic celebration of 40 years with everyone this Fall. John Petrucci (guitar), John Myung (bass), Mike Portnoy (drums) were students at the Berklee College of Music back in 1985 when they got together under the band name Majesty. As other members have come and gone over the years, and after the band went through many name changes, the name Dream Theater struck, flourished, and rewarded the band with a highly lucrative and illustrious career. Notoriously referred to as one of the 'big three', Dream Theater stands alongside Queensrÿche and Fates Warning, as the trailblazers of the progressive rock metal genre.

With fifteen studio albums to their name, selling over 12 million records worldwide, Dream Theater is also known for its critically acclaimed albums that have been honored with Grammy nominations and a big win for Best Metal Performance for their song "The Alien". Dream Theater's collective genius is made up of each member's bravura as individual musicians. John Petrucci is a multi-awarded and highly recognized guitar player, having received 'Best Guitarist' or 'Guitarist of the Year' distinctions from Total Guitar, Music Radar, and Burrn! magazine. Dream Theater's keyboard players have also been honored by Burrn!, Music Radar, and Metal Edge.
